Stainless steel wire assortment
We offer stainless steel wire in various bendable and spring-hard materials.
You will find the right wire for your application with us. Our range includes both malleable stainless steel wire and stable spring steel wire. We offer smaller dimensions between 0.1 mm and 0.9 mm, but also larger thicknesses from 1 mm to 6 mm. You can choose between different lengths. The products offered here are available from stock.
Stainless steel wire V2A & V4A - what is the difference?

SS wire wound on a DIN spool (left) and as a bound ring (right)
We offer a wide range of stainless V2A and V4A wires, but how do these products compare? Both terms refer to stainless steels, which, however, have a different proportion of austenite (this is what the A stands for). In general, V4A steels are more resistant to weathering and corrosion. These differences primarily play a role in industrial production, hence V4A stainless steels are mostly used where they come into contact with acids, chemicals or salt water.
Bendable stainless wires versus spring steel wires
Stainless spring steel wires differ from the flexible stainless steel wires in our range primarily in that they have greater stability. Spring steel wires are therefore used industrially for the manufacture of springs or in mechanical engineering, in the manufacture of electronic components or in the automotive industry. Thanks to its corrosion resistance, good welding properties and cold forming capabilities, stainless spring steel wire offers many advantages over bendable materials.
Welding properties of our wires
Our stainless steel wires can be used for welding with many common welding processes. However, the welding properties vary for each material and range from very good to moderate weldability. Further information on the welding properties of the individual materials can be found in our technical data sheets.
Can it be used with food?
Stainless steel wires are suitable for use with food in that they have no effect on the smell or taste of food. After thorough cleaning or optimal surface finishing of the wire, it can therefore generally be used in connection with food. Stainless steels 1.4301 and 1.4404 are frequently used for applications in the food industry. Please note that, to the best of our knowledge, there is currently no explicit approval or declaration of food conformity or safety certificate that regulates the use of certain stainless steel wires in the food industry. Detailed information and recommendations on the use of stainless steel in connection with food can be found in Information Sheet 914: ‘Stainless steel – when health matters’ from the Stainless Steel Information Centre.
Possible areas of application
Stainless steel wire is versatile and therefore ideal for a wide range of applications. For example, you can use it as craft wire for decorations (such as at Christmas), for handicrafts or for craft activities. Modelling stainless steel wire is popular with model makers and artists. In floristry, it is used as binding wire or wrapping wire. Stainless steel wire is also used as jewellery wire, for example in the manufacture of chains, pendants and other jewellery. Thanks to its rust-free properties, stainless steel wire is also ideal for use as garden wire. In the garden, you can use it as a climbing aid for plants, for example when greening facades, or when erecting a fence. Stainless steel wire is also used as sealing wire for sealing documents, as aviary wire for building cages and aviaries, or in boat building. However, these are just a few of the many possible applications for stainless steel wire.

Special stainless steel wires
Stainless steel wires are also used for special applications. These include lightning protection and earthing systems, or lightning conductors, for which V4A stainless steel wires are used as earthing wires. Sturdy fruit-growing wire, which has a higher breaking strength than conventional stainless steel wire, is used in fruit growing, viticulture and agriculture. Beekeepers use stainless steel honeycomb wire, and the flexible wire is also ideal for manufacturing face masks. We also offer all these products in our shop.
