Stainless steel wire assortment
We offer SS wires in different bendable and spring-hard grades
You will find the right wire for your application with us. Our assortment includes both bendable and spring steel wires. We offer smaller dimensions between 0,1 mm and 0,9 mm, but also larger thicknesses from 1 mm to 6 mm. You can choose between different lengths. The products offered here are available from stock.
Stainless steel wire V2A & V4A - what is the difference?
SS wire wound on a DIN spool (left) and as a bound ring (right)
We offer a wide range of stainless V2A and V4A wires, but how do these products compare? Both terms refer to stainless steels, which, however, have a different proportion of austenite (this is what the A stands for). In general, V4A steels are more resistant to weathering and corrosion. These differences primarily play a role in industrial production, hence V4A stainless steels are mostly used where they come into contact with acids, chemicals or salt water.
Bendable stainless wires versus spring steel wires
Stainless spring steel wires differ from the bendable stainless steel wires from our range primarily in that they have a higher stability. Spring steel wires are therefore used industrially for the production of springs or they are used in mechanical engineering, in the manufacture of electronic components or in the automotive industry. Due to its corrosion resistance, the good welding properties and the possibility of cold forming, our stainless spring steel wire also offers advantages over the bendable materials for various private purposes.

Welding properties of our wires
Our stainless steel wires can be used for welding with many common welding processes. However, the welding properties are different for each material and range from very good to medium weldability. We provide further information on the welding properties of the individual materials on our technical data sheets.
Can it be used with food?
Stainless steel wires are suitable for application with food in that they have no odour or taste effect on food. After a thorough cleaning or an optimal surface refinement of the wire, it can therefore in principle be used in connection with food. Stainless steels 1.4301 and 1.4404 are often used for applications in the food sector. Please note that to the best of our knowledge, there is currently no explicit approval or food conformity declaration or safety certificate regulating the use of certain stainless steel wires in the food industry. Detailed information and recommendations on the use of stainless steel in connection with foodstuffs can be found in leaflet 914: „Nichtrostender Stahl - wenn die Gesundheit zählt“ (in German) from the stainless steel information center.
Possible areas of application
Stainless steel wire can be used in many ways and is therefore ideal for various applications. You can use it as craft wire for decorations ( like at Christmas), for handicrafts or other craft activities. Modelable stainless steel wire is popular with model makers and artists. In floristry, it is used as binding wire or winding wire. Stainless steel wire is also used as jewellery wire, such as for making necklaces, pendants and other jewellery. Due to its rustproof properties, stainless steel wire is also ideal as garden wire. In the garden, you can use it as a climbing aid for plants on the façade or to erect a fence. It is also used as sealing wire for documents, as aviary wire for the construction of cages and aviaries or in boat building. However, these are only a some examples of many applications for which our material can be used..

Special wires
Stainless steel wires are also used for various special applications. These include lightning protection and earthing systems, or lightning conductors, for which V4A stainless steel wires are employed as earthing wires. For orchards and vineyards, as well as in agriculture, stable orchard wire is used, which has a higher breaking strength than conventional stainless steel wire. Beekeepers use stainless honeycomb wire, but flexible wire is also ideal for making mouth guards. We offer all these products in our shop.
